If there's a 'best wild camping site in the world', it must be here at Calgary Bay. We stayed for one night in mid September, but were blessed with stunning sunny hot weather.
Surrounded by huge hills on all sides, white sandy beeches, sand dunes and a beautiful bay with crystal clear water, it's no wonder this place is in Scotland's cool camping book. Absolutely stunning in the right weather.
The Calgary hotel is a 15 minute walk up the road, which serves excellent food although on the expensive side, and a bus stops right outside the site, going to Dervaig and Tobermory 3 times a day (not Sundays). There's a toilet block with running cold water although not drinkable. Worth mentioning this is a wild camping site so please make sure you respect the area and be sure not to leave any litter behind.
Fantastic memories here we will treasure always. 5 stars!
