A very popular site. Nearly always full in the holidays, so book ahead. Taken over by the community in recent years, there is a program of development taking place. the kids play area was completely replaced for 2015, and is proving popular. Wifi is included in the price and works well. The toilet block is fine but a little dated. It was scheduled for refurbishment for the 2015 season and as it is a community ran site, local tradesmen were a requirement but according to local blether, the local contractors didn't want to do the work. The plan is to do it this winter! The real gem is the village of Ballater itself. As someone said to me, a wee village with a pulse. There is always lots going on, shops, cafe's and tea shops galore, restaurants and pubs too. Dave and Rachel are the interesting couple who run the site do a great job and always have time for a chat. It is the most expensive campsite I have come across in Scotland, supply and demand I suppose, but I can't say it's poor value.

We have visited this site for the best part of 20 years, in caravans, tents, statics and a motorhome. The recent change of management has only improved the site and will continue to do so. I have stayed here in all sorts of weather and seasons plus busy and quiet and the site and its surroundings change with the seasons., but the scenery still takes my breath away first thing in the morning or evening sunset,. The river is so close , and in early season you can see it clearly through the bare trees watching the ice being carried down the River Dee. There is a wonderful golf course next to the site that welcomes visitors and the village is full of wonderful shops and you can get your supplies from the butcher and baker and an ironmongery store that has all those bits you forgot to bring that you need. Cafes have popped up over the last few years for coffee and cakes and the local sweet shop is still making its own local sweets. The new management are planning to make improvements to the facilities over the close season to make it even better. The site managers are helpful and want to make your stay a success, they will help you get settled at your pitch, or help you select a camping area that suits you. There are statics on site as it is part of the gift of the land to the council from the landowner to have both on site; they are clean and well presented. The site is a little gem, indeed it is so nice that I want to keep it for myself, but it deserves a recommendation for others to also enjoy.

Not long back from Ballater. Stayed in a modern static located on the site itself. Site has excellent facilities and is kept clean. Caravan from ballatercaravan.com was high quality. Excellent holiday just a pity about the cold weather!
