Stayed here for the first May bank holiday weekend and it was pretty busy. They'd clearly had drainage problems as the grassy bits were very chewed up despite the obvious new turf that had been laid. The static area is nice and spacious but I felt a bit crammed in in the touring section as there was no room to park cars next to caravans if you had an awning up. This meant that cars were squeezed in front of vans and made the place look like a car boot sale. This also made the road very narrow and if we'd been arriving or departing with the van in tow, we'd have had to knock on doors to ask owners to move their cars. Once it was emptier the place was a lot better. The tents are also separate but one of the fields was entirely muddy and work was being carried out on it. However, the site was nice with lots of bunnies around and adequate toilets with showers, baby changing and laundry facilities. There was also a play area for the kids. They are clearly working hard to sort out the drainage so hopefully that should improve.
The sandy beach is adjacent is very easily accessible and there are wonderful walks nearby. For kiddies try the nearby John Muir Park area for an adventure playground or if you wish to pay, a kiddie farm area with go-karts, bouncy things, beasties and such like. We didn't venture in as it was too busy for us on the bank holiday Monday but it looked pretty good. The surrounding area has loads to do to keep all ages amused.
