Spent two nights at the site with my two sons (8 and 10) and we really enjoyed the site. The pitch we selected was flat, shaded under the trees with great views of the loch. The best part was unlike some other site there is not rocks under the grass to break / bend the pegs. There is no facilities for kids but with the west highland way right in front of you, the loch to swim in (wet suits) and plenty of space to run around and play who needs a swing? At night the stars are amazing and with the fire roaring and a comfy seat you don't need the box set of game of thrones! Toilets were clean and there was no smells to worry about but a few more toilets and sinks (two sinks but one tap) would make the above two stars move up to three. Great site and my sons favorite and a great way to go wild without going wild! Book again? YES YES

Glorious location, no road traffic past the site, Show more

Glorious location, no road traffic past the site, direct beach access even if the water is a little chilly. Quite a long drive out to the main road network if you want to go walking each day (though great for Ben Lomond). Doable but long walk to the pub (with food) along the West Highland Way. Loos are surprisingly odour free, plenty of bins. The main area was rather busy with large family groups in August, not quite on top of each other but pretty packed in. The shoreside pitches would be a lot quieter, but some are a considerable walk from the parking. Wardens are friendly, firepits definitely add something (and the wood is sold at below market rates), would definitely recommend. NB this is in a no alcohol zone, would be better if it were a no children zone imo.

We have just returned from a weekend at Sallochy Show more

We have just returned from a weekend at Sallochy Campsite (17/06/2012). It's a semi wild campsite, the best we have been to. You book on line, turn up after 4pm, take your pitch either Loch side or in the wooded area, (we choose Loch Side). Wardens meet you and help you locate a pitch and offer a fire pit at a reasonable price. The only other things they supply are eco toilets which are brilliant for the environment and don't smell !! Fresh running water and views to die for. We had wind, rain and mosquitos but still loved it. Looking to book again very soon. GREAT. 2 x adults and a 2 year old girl.
