Let me start by saying that if you want to wake up in the morning, get out of your tent/caravan/motorhome, and see a glass smooth Loch with whispy clouds around the peaks of the mountains, with peace and quiet, then this is the place! It's location is right on the shore of Loch Duich, and it is perfect for that.
Now, the site itself. The field is very well drained, and has flat hard standing for caravans. Nearby is the village of Dornie with two great pubs for a nice local pint of McEwens of Tennants, or maybe even a wee dram. It even has a small shop for emergency provisions. If you need more than that, then there is a Spar about 5 miles away, and about 8 miles is Kyle itself with a large Co-Op.
What is nearby? well as you stand at the edge of the Loch, you can see Eileen Donan Castle, which in fact is only about 10 mins walk. A half an hour drive will get you to Plockton, and Loch Carron, which in July has a Highland Games. on its shores. Also, Glen Shiel as a short drive, as is Kyle and Skye. So, you could say it is a perfect base for exploration.
Downside? Well the two toilet/shower blocks are basic to say the least (breeze block construction, but the shower unit and toilets themselves are modern and kept clean.
But considering the location, you can forgive this.
One thing to bear in mind, and is unusual these days for camp sites, is the showers require a 50p to run, so make sure that you have some with you when you arrive.
To some up, great site, very basic facilities, but oh, that location!
