I love this place! We used to pop down from Edinburgh for a meal and a walk year ago but this year we went back with our young son for his first camping trip. Facilities wise - you have what you need. Toilets, showers, washing and the pub. You need to be organised as there is nothing within a 15 minute drive and you might struggle for more than a few nights. Nice pitches by the lochside with fire spots available. 2 porta-loos over the field and what else do you need? Stunning, breathtaking views that never fail to amaze me. Friendly welcome with members of the family often popping over to say hello. It is true they ask you to only purchase their drinks. I don't think this is a money making scheme more a peace keeping one. When we pitched up there was a large group of young male campers and I'm ashamed to admit we were a bit like 'ok here we go' thinking they would be noisy into the wee hours. They were fine. The couple next to us with a young son combined with another few people who made their tent their home for the night were noisy. The aucostics of the valley mean when all is quiet the slightest sound travels. The owners on this site are on the ball and act quickly to make sure everyone on the site is comfortable. It's expected that everything winds down at midnight. Fires out, music off etc. Yeah you can sit out and chat away, just be considerate! I've marked the facilities for kids as 5 star. There is no park, no arcade, no kids clb, no entertainment... bliss!! What you get, once all those distractions are out the road, is kids doing what they should. Looking for fish, paddling, throwing stones in the water, climbing trees, playing commandos... they have an absoulte ball in a small, enclosed and friendly campsite. I love this place, it's my little piece of heaven an hour down the road.
