No dogs allowed (except guide dogs) in the tent camping area, but they are allowed if you have a caravan or campervan in the touring area. New facilities for tent campers in 2004. Rothiemurchus Camp and Caravan Park We are regular visitors to the area however normally stay in self catering, we have been camping for a few years and absolutely point blank refuse to use the Glenmore site so wanted an alternative site, on our first trip with our caravan. We have spent a lot of time on the estate over the years however, when we had a tent they woudn't accept dogs, now that we have the caravan, great time to try it. We had a ball! Great site, lovely managers, fab location - we bike and find it difficult sometimes with the dogs, having to go down roads however here you are a stones through away from the start of the great walking/riding trails within the estate, and right off the cycle track (old logging way) so it was an ideal location. You can walk to Aviemore from here, maybe a couple of miles but doable but the access to the paths etc is the major bonus for us. The facilities were great, toilet basin and shower all in the one room so loads of room to get changed etc. Very clean and hot showers too. All in all a great site, it is right next to the ski road but at night it is quiet. Can't wait to go back! Rothiemurchus Camp and Caravan Park Here for sadly only one night last weekend (Sept 09) and absolutely loved the site, just wish we could have stayed for longer but are already planning our return! A lovely site, almost wild camping in our glorious Scottish woodlands but with fine facilities to hand and friendly welcoming staff. And if your children are anything like ours (age 5 and 8) then they will love hunting for lions, tigers and bears in the forest, finding boulders to sit on to read their books and spying on the wood ants :-)! Rothiemurchus Camp and Caravan Park Spent one night here in May. Received a warm welcome from the lady on reception and she explained everything to us. We selected a pitch next to the small stream and saw four red squirrels before we had even pitched up! It is a very peaceful site amongst the trees. The shower block is new and very clean, with a keycard entry system. You need a £10 refundable deposit for this. A hairdryer would be a useful addition for us ladies! We were able to use disposable barbeques on the large logs left around to keep them off the ground. All in all a very pleasant evening, although a bit cold at this time of year with snow on the hills. Lots to do in the area. In reply to the point about hair dryers, we do have warm air hand dryers which have been fixed at a height to allow them to be used as hair dryers. There is also a socket in the laundry which can be used for hairdryers.

Rothiemurchus Camp and Caravan Park Visited in early March. We have 2 dogs and the area around the park is absolutely perfect for dogs.The new shower and toilet block is immaculate. We don't have young children.There are no facilities as such for kids,but there is loads of ground where children would love to play a nd explore.Also plenty of good walking tracks leading from the site. The staff were really friendly and helpful.We will definitely be calling back in the summer.As the site is not very big,it would be advisable to book in advance in high season. Rothiemurchus Camp and Caravan Park Stayed here recently over two separate weekends, both times nice and quiet. Staff very friendly and helpful. The pitches are among the trees, so you don't tend to get people pitching too close to you, but they can be quite stony and rooty, the staff will advise the bst places available. The site is right next to the start of the Lairig Ghru, it's also on the (nearly complete) new cycle path to Loch Morlich and Aviemore, as well as being connected in to the Rothiemurcus estate, so very good for bikes. Facilities clean and pleasant - individual bathrooms with showers and loos like you get at home - I would imagine this would be a good arrangement for families. Rothiemurchus Camp and Caravan Park Just back after an early April visit. The site is now under new management (since Oct 2007) and the family now managing the site are absolute gems! While booking in I happened to mention that we'd had problems starting our 'new' motorhome when leaving home (duff battery) and was told not to worry - just park so that jump leads could be attached and pop down to reception if I had problems starting when leaving. We had a long chat when booking out and learned that the new managers have some very interesting and potentially very effective plans for improving and developing the site. It looks like a gold star site will become diamond in the not too distant future. Note - my 3 star rating for 'Facilities for Kids' is based on the fact that there are no man-made facilities. However if your kids are happy splashing in a burn or playing in the undergrowth it's a 10 star playground! Not sure how up to date the 'official' info on the site's website is, but there are 16 Touring Pitches and 22 Camping (tent) pitches at present. Rothiemurchus Camp and Caravan Park Camped here last weekend. Weather was STUNNING which helped but we were very pleased overall with the campsite. This was our first time away in our new tent so we dont have anything to judge it by but we were very pleased with the cleanliness, the excellent shower and toilet facilities and the friendliness of the staff (even after we lost our key card for the shower). Points to note. £6/pppn, regardless of size of tent or car. £10 returnable deposit for shower block key card. Lots of space for tents of all sizes, although larger ones would be better on the western side of the site next to the Lairig Ghru footpath. Lots of parking spaces. Not much to do for the kids, although they enjoyed wandering around the woods and playing football in the area near where we were camped. However, if the site was busy this would not be an option. We liked the 2300 lights out and no noise rule, although suspect it would be difficult to police in the summer or if there were a group of more 'social' campers. Slightly annoying noise of shotguns coming from the adjacent clay pigeon shoooting facility (as early as 9AM). Other wise a very nice site. Definitely one to revisit in the future. Rothiemurchus Camp and Caravan Park Spent 4 days at this site, the original plan was for two! There were tears in my eyes when I left, (kicking and screaming as it happens) It's very quiet and pecefull camping in the forest, just the sound of the river in the distance and the little burn which we camped beside. The toilet facilities are EXCELLENT, warm, clean and bright. Aviemore is 5 mins drive although there is a shop on site which opens at 9am and closes at 9pm. Plenty of big pitches close the toilet facilites but too close to the car park some perhaps, not that it's a particularly noisy area. Having small two man tents allowed us to pitch further in to the forest, close to the burn, just like wild camping. I'd be happy to go back here anytime....Ooooo it's open all year! great camping but not for the youthful!!!! Great campsite and great facilites but i would not recommend this campsite to anyone from the ages of 18-30 or indeed, just anyone who is there with friends rather than with a family. When told at reception to keep noise down after 11pm which of course you can both accept and respect, you fail to understand that this in fact means lights down and shut up! I'm guessing that they failed to explain this to our group due to being distracted by the sight of currency from a large group. Definately, not for those who are looking for a harmless giggle and a break away from the city!!! Apart from this, for families and oldies it would be fun. Gorgeous scenery and conveniently located for all local amenities but wont be back until kids appear or hair turns grey! Can't get much better than this. Visited in early November 2004 and caught the best of the late autumn colours. Well spaced pitches set amongst pine and birch trees with a small river bordering one side of the site and the start/end of the Lairig Ghru trail on the other. Tent sites are well catered for with picnic tables and close to the new toilet/shower block which is A+++ and very well cleaned. Staff were extremely nice. Very quiet when we were there, but probably much busier in summer and during skiing season. Lots of walking in the local area through forest and moorland ( two minutes and you can be on the edge of 'nowhere') but shops in Aviemore are only about 20 minutes walk. Only noise we heard on site was the river next to the camper-van. Tip: Turn off the A9 at 'Ralia Tourist Information' and go through Newtonmore to Kingussie and then take the B970 to Colymbridge.
