Employee-owned business; very eco friendly
An excellent place to camp - and you can have a proper campfire :-)))
TRANSPORT - car park; good bus service to nearest towns (No 15 Perth service - doesn't take bikes sadly) (stops right at bottom of a slightly step drive)
STAFF - very friendly, experienced, diverse and helpful (George is excellent at bushcraft)
ACCOMODATION - hostel, Swedish Katas (huge tepee-type tents); 3 types of pitches: lower meadow, higher meadow and woodland (latter is the best for tarp/hammock, teppees, smaller tents and learning bushcraft skills)
FIRE - can have camp fire (FAB!!); huge bag of wood £5 (lasted 1-2 nights depending)
ABLUTIONS - good; unisex
WASHING UP - decent sized sinks
WASTE - excellent recycling area (very organised) with area to leave unused / surplus items for other campers (great idea)
FACILITIES - (1) Shop - very basic consumables (they need to expand or provide mobile delivery so do not have to get into car and go nearest town); has some emergency outdoor kit too (good idea); has bike parts / kit
(2) Communal social area (an old parachute with camp fire; great idea); (3) Small function hall; (4) Communal computer (mainly for international travellers); (5) 24hr drinks / snacks shed; (6) chicken pen - great fresh eggs and kids can feed (7) Views - panoramic; (8) information board with activities, reources and weather info
ACTIVITIES - (1) fab walks on site (water falls; pond, woodland, hills; higher mountains short drive away; (2) mountain biking (local hire available) + tracks; (3) other visitor attractions short drives away; (4) natural osprey nest across the road; (4) loads of birds and some wildlife
NEAREST TOWNS - one either side, about 10min drive or 20 mins on bus
Type of accommodation: Tent
