Not the easiest place in the country to get to but honestly folks, you wont b disappointed. We pitched up for a 3 night stay, the tent pitches are massive, well separated and flat. The views from almost all of the pitches are unbeatable ( I would recommend tent pitches "A" or "B".) I believe all have fire pits and logs are available on site. The showers and toilets are first class and you will find that the owners are more than happy to help whatever the problem, or maybe even just a chin wag. Crikey, you can even have a game of "Frizby Golf" aye, that was a new one me as well. Well laid out site, plenty of space between pitches, grass is kept in tip top condition. Set on the hill side overlooking the Solway, you can walk down through the woods (a short walk downhill) to a fantastic small beach (wish I had taken my fishing gear). Trek through the woods along the shore line and discover an age old grave yard buried in amongst the trees and the remnants of old village/church etc. Our first day there we stood on the small beach and when we turned around there was a young red deer on the edges of the wood looking back at us. The trails through the woods stretch for a considerable distance, its a pleasant walk (though sometimes over tree roots and sometimes a little rough ground) but the peace and pleasure of the views makes it all worthwhile. Get up early in the morning and watch the fishing fleet sailing along the water towards the open sea as you sit with your morning coffee. Look folks, I could go on all day about how relaxing and appealing this place is, but you wont understand really until you experience it for yourselves. If nothing more than just the peace and quiet, its worth the effort and certainly worth every penny.

A really fantastic place to wind down and relax. Show more

A really fantastic place to wind down and relax. No wifi to distract your kids, instead, beaches, woodland walks, all manner of wildlife, and REAL CAMPFIRES not only allowed, but encouraged by the firepit and picnic table at every pitch. I have been visiting this site for over 10 years now, and it just gets better every year. The owners are polite and friendly, and the facilities are spotless.

Stayed at the site in our Campervan, Sept 17, Show more

Stayed at the site in our Campervan, Sept 17, great location, great views, lots of quiet roads, lanes and tracks for cycling. Situated next to working farm, so proper feel of being in the country. Ideal for walks to the coast (5mins) or walks through the woodland. There's a number of RSPB sites within travelling distance. The facilities provided are excellent, happy to recommend and would visit again.
