I had never camped before and was very apprehensive but I can honestly say, I couldn't have asked for more! Libby at Ythan Valley Campsite was so welcoming & helpful when we arrived and even suggested things to do while we we there.
The campsite itself is so lovely and very reasonably priced. Very tranquil setting, very well organised and very clean facilities. Recycling is very much encouraged (which I love) and there are plenty of bins for food waste, glass, plastic, etc. There was also a bin for BBQ ashes.
The 'meadow' consists of a large main pitch and 3 hideaway pitches. We chose a hideaway pitch to ensure we had some peace and quiet but we needn't have worried as the whole campsite was peaceful. The hideaway pitch, however, felt quite special. The one we chose was right beside a brook, where you could tie things to a string and chill them in the water!
Libby also provides freshly cooked breakfast food if required (at an additional cost) and I have to say, the food was amazing! Freshly baked bread (made to your specification from a list of ingredients) was absolutely delicious and still warm when we received it. We also had delicious baked oats (like a soft breakfast bar) with fresh fruit compote, natural yogurt and honey. Tea and coffee were also available.
All in all, a great camping experience. Will definitely return in the very near future and would highly recommend if you want a peaceful, relaxing trip.
