My daughter and I we're going around north and north west Scotland with our tent on a mini adventure, I wanted to go to Arisaig mainly for the beaches.
We drove through the small village and this was the second campsite we came across that accepted tents - I'm so please we passed the other by.
Joyce was very welcoming, showed me the pitch and that was it, a done deal. My daughter and I had a wonderful stay, the beach was perfect, the weather windy, no tv, just a pack of cards and some fun in the sea - she went swimming, I merely observed.
A nice clean camp site, perfect to pitch a tent - no need for a mallet. Very child friendly, no noise makers. After we'd watched the sun go down we turned in, there were two guys on the beach playing a fiddle and guitar so we were more or less serenaded to sleep.
On waking I got a quick shower, it takes 50pence pieces - take two with you and be careful when you load the second one in. We were just about to leave when, wondering what to do, my daughter asked if we could go over to Eig or Rhum - so we had a look at the time tables, then Ewen Nicholson's ad caught our eye.
If you want to see loads of stuff, crammed together with loads of strangers then pick any of the other boat trips - if you want a fun, humourous experience, a go at fishing with probably the friendliest skipper running out of Mallaig then give Ewen a call (01687 462388) - the M.V. Grimsay Isle may not look the smartest but it'll be better than any of the big tourist tins that rattle in and out at top speed and he'll even let you feed his pet seagull - my daughter loved it.
