If you're after peace and quiet then this site is perfect, however toilet block is in dire need of renovation. We felt that 20p for showers was a bit on the 'cheeky side' given that the cost of the pitch - £16 per night - was a tad on the high side (especially when motor homes etc cost £16 per night and included hook up). Site is extremely close to Edzell where you can pick up all the bits and bobs you need, with Brechin around 20 mins drive. Take a left as you come out the park and you're on your way to Tarfside and beyond, well worth a visit. Not a bad site in all, but one which could be top notch if improved that little bit.

First camping trip with 3 kids 7, 4 and 2. Found the staff to be very helpful on arrival. Park for kids is basic, but does the job. Environment lends itself to kids being kids like we were once upon a time, playing in the woods and damning the burn or feeding the ducks. Campsite is very informal with a first come first pitch approach - might be difficult if you have a large tent to squeeze in when it's busy. We were offered a caravan pitch instead though, but chose the campsite.

Have just come back from a weekend's camping Show more

Have just come back from a weekend's camping in this fantastic camp/caravan site. Lots of space in the campsite so you don't get the feeling of being on top of the neighbours. With site set amongst loads of trees, it feels like you're miles away from civilisation but you're not really as it's about 5 minutes to Edzell by car. Toilet facilities are very basic - but heck ! you're camping!! They are clean and the showers worth every penny of the 20p charge. It's worth a drive up to the top of the Glen to have afternoon tea at The Retreat and visit the folk museum. A little further along is Loch Lee. Park in car park and walk the mile to the Loch, it's a pleasant walk and not difficult. Another nearby walk is through the Blue door by Burn House just before you turn into the road up the glen. Edzell has a fab ice-cream shop called The Tuck Inn, and the "Shaky Brig" and beach is worth a visit. Ask any local for directions. In spite of the wet and damp conditions, all 12 of us really enjoyed ourselves and we hope to go again soon.
