Superb location, and wonderfully helpful staff. There's a diner on site (with great fish & chips!), and it also has a seating area for relaxation/watching tv/small library & loads of info on what to do in the area.
Although the caravan site has no park of its own, it shares ground with the council-owned play-park, and is close to the beach & coastal walks. It's also within 10 mins walk of the town of Thurso, and the Lidl supermarket is literally across the road.
The new owners (who have recently bought the park from Highland Council), are undertaking a refurbishment programme of the site. As with many ex-council-owned sites, little investment has been done in the infrastructure over the last 30 years, and the toilet blocks are dated, with quite small showers and no privacy cubicles. But they are SPOTLESSLY CLEAN.
A word of warning - Don't use the washers/dryers - these are also in need of replacement (the owners know this & it's part of the planned refurbishment programme) & quite expensive, and they don't wash very well. I'd recommend using the launderette in town.
The other downside is that the grey waste is currently disposed of in the chemical waste disposal unit, meaning you have to lift your grey waste container up to the toilet bowl - not easy if your grey waste is almost full. Hopefully, this will also be part of the refurb.
Having said all this - we will definitely be back! The location & friendly staff outweigh the small drawbacks! :)
