We've stayed here often and up to this year the site has seldom been above 75% full. In fact in April this year there were only 12 pitches occupied. THIS HAS NOW CHANGED! Recently the site has frequently been full, possibly because the pitch costs have been reduced and also due to a good recent article about the site in one of the camping magazines. We've just got back after a week up there and the "Site Full" notice was on the gate most days. Have to say though that despite being full, the site was still very peaceful and quiet which is how we like it. Last year many of the trees and shrubs in and around the boundary were cut down and this has resulted in a much more open feel to the pitches and vastly improved views of the stunning local scenery. Advance booking would be well advised!

Stayed 7 nights during early August. Were very surprised to find the site only about 50% full at best. "It's on account of the midges", said the warden. This is rather a shame as we didn't find the midges too bad most of the time and we were not bothered at all as long as we were moving about. On the few occasions we were attacked we found that a light application of a 80% DEET based product worked a treat.Only significant bite was from a cleg that pounced while I was sitting in the sun reading the Sunday paper! The site is a superb base for exploring the Beinn Eighe nature reserve and surrounding area with miles of low-level and mountain tracks to explore and a vast range of mountain flora and fauna to see. Facilities are typical CC, clean and well maintained. Showers very high-tech! Were not impressed with the tumble-drier which swallowed 70 pence (twice) and only seemed to run for about 10 minutes or so and didn't dry our load of three shirts and pair of jeans. Two general stores within a few hundred yards and a hotel and two other eateries in very easy reach. The 'Whistle Stop' on the Torridon road is well worth a try (take your own wine) and only 5 minutes walk. We enjoyed our stay and wish we could have stayed longer as there there is so much more to explore.

Site on edge of village and very good for walking. Show more

Site on edge of village and very good for walking. Being in a campervan and given that it was pouring with rain, we were very grateful for the level hardstanding that other reviewers have complained about. It is very wet all around the site, and I suspect grass is just not a viable option. Nice dog walk. All the great facilities you expect in a CC site. Superb walking from the site. Guess if you go to the mountains to walk and get away from it all in a stunning location, then you'll like it. We did.
