Travelled to the Isle of Canna to camp in May 09. We met Winnie McKinnon in her distinctive red Landrover and asked where we could camp. "Anywhere," she said. In the end we stayed in Kate's Cottage, a basic bothy with the best view in the Islands. The best camping area appeared to be on the machair behind the small white sand beach on Sanday (island linked to Canna by a bridge). There is a water tap and showers at the farm. This is a lovely and peaceful place with sea eagles and corncrakes. There used to be a tearoom but that had closed down when we were there. You really do have to take all your food with you, except there are mussels galore.
