I have only given 3 stars for all as I do not want to affect their rating too much. This is just for information. I was not able to stay here as they ONLY ALLOW 4 MAN TENTS. I have a 5 MAN TENT and this was NOT ALLOWED. I would imagine that most families have 5 man tents, so this site is NOT REALLY AIMED AT FAMILIES.

Came here for a dads and kids camping weekend and thoroughly enjoyed our time. The site has a nice well-run but informal atmosphere. The camping area is split into two lawns either side of the shower block. Pitches are generous with plenty of room for our two bedroom tents. The showers are great - a torrent of hot water and the loos were clean. We did have to wait at times for a shower (only three cubicles) but this isn't much of an inconvenience when they are so close to the tent. The one worry was that the hot taps got extremely hot and could have singed the childrens' fingers. The swimming pool, games room and bar are good value. Morrison's is a 5 minute walk away with St Andrews a further 20 minute yomp. You can get a bus back up to Morrison's. A spacious, relaxing and well-situated campsite.

Great campsite! Kids loved the free pool (which is open 10am to 9 pm) and games room. Nice bar with reasonable prices. The showers in the tent toilet block were really good and clean, very private too. A good site for families.

Cairnsmill Caravan Park just back from a weekend with partner and 2 kids aged 5 and 8.Pitches were excellent right next to toilets showers blocks and washing up facilites including washing maching and dryer and all of these facilites where spotless.Onsite oub has a playpark right outside for kids and also a games room with a heated swimming pool next door and prices for drinks were resonable.Will defenetly be going back in july for a week.Just to add there is a morrisons 2 mins drive from campsite and the beach and town centre is 5 mins drive this park is highly recomend Type of accommodation: Tent Date: 25/05/2009 Was this review helpful for you? 10 of 10 found this review to be helpful.

Cairnsmill Caravan Park What a great site. spent 3 days with my family (& dog) and can't wait to go back. Playparks great for my son and near to the caravan which is not always the case in some sites.The pool was closed as the park was quiet but when I asked at the bar they said it was no problem to open it for my family & it was only covered to conserve the heat, as no one was using it. St Andrews beach is brilliant for the dog, also Anstruthers is a good day out. The only down side was the showers did'nt work very well, very little water & it was a push button system & my little boy couldnt push it himself so had to shower with me or his dad this is the only thing I can say might need a bit of attention, otherwise an excellent park for families (especially young children) Type of accommodation: Caravan Date: 22/09/2008 Was this review helpful for you? 6 of 7 found this review to be helpful.

Cairnsmill Caravan Park Stayed weekend of 5th/6th September, with 8 adults and 9 kids split over 4 tents. All in all, we had a great weekend, however we were very disappointed with the pitches allocated, as they seemed to be in what I would describe as an overspill area, even though the main ones were empty. This was especially an issue because the pitches were not of great quality, were very exposed, and the wind was unbelievable - had we been placed in the main pitches, we would have been very well sheltered by caravans and trees. We had to move the tents after the first night (after a debate with the receptionist that was really more tortuous than it needed to be be), and our feeling was that more thought should have gone into where we were situated in the first place. Despite all that, a great weekend was had, and I would probably go back, but would ask about the pitches beforehand. Cairnsmill Caravan Park Stayed here for 5 nights in what was the wettest week in August I think Fife has ever had. With a supermarket within easy walking distance and the centre of St Andrews not to far away with great pubs and places to eat its a great place to stop. Cairnsmill Caravan Park Stayed at site weekend of Fri 21 to Mon 24 September.Toilet block for campers was clean with individual shower rooms. Tent pitches nearly all had electric hook up. The only thing i found was a bit or road noise as the Largo road is a bit of race track for the locals. Daily newspapers and fresh rolls every day at the camp shop. The swimming pool was one of the warmest i'ver ever been in, think this was a mistake as it was too hot, reported it to the site boss. The bar had a very friendly atmosphere in the evening with live entertainment and bingo. Taxi into St Andrews is only £4 which we thought was very good. There is a bus at quarter to the hour or its a 20 minute easy walk, 5 mins to Morrisons. They do a good breakfast if you can'nt be bothered cooking in the tent.Will be going back next year, I bet its even better in the middle of the summer. Super Campsite We've been to Cairnsmill a couple of times now & can't praise it highly enough. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The site itself is extremely clean, tidy and well organised; both for caravans and tents (around 25 pitches as well as a small overspill area). The tent area toilet block was fresh & clean (would have given 5 stars but for the flooded shower unit). There's a couple of fairly basic play areas for older kids & another specifically for under 8s. The main selling point for our boy though was the onsite swimming pool, free for all campers to use. There's also a small shop by the reception area selling bits & bobs, ice cream, newspapers etc. It's not the cheapest site we've been to, but very good value for money. Well worth a visit. Cairnsmill Caravan Park Booked two days with a touring caravan. On arrival staff were friendly and helpful. Grass pitches were level but we felt the caravans were crammed too close together. The location of the site was on a hill but there was no view of the town and it felt quite claustrophobic. However there was easy access to the town centre. The toilets and showers were clean, but the showers in one block didn't work very well. The swimming pool is again quite small which wasn't very good when it got busy. Other facilites in the site were good and kept clean and tidy. I had previously went to this site camping and found it was actually a very good site for tents rather than caravans. Cairnsmill Caravan Park We loved this site, especially surprised at the showers/toilets - first class. Only a 4 star campsite but 5 star facilities. Bar, games room and pool on site and the pitches are well maintained and give good space. Tip Top Camp Site This is a GREAT campsite, only 30mins walk from StAndrews town centre. The pitches have plenty of space and good drainage. Toilet/Shower block is clean with plenty of Hot water. Dogs are allowed and there's even an onsite bar should it get really wet. Best to book in advance since it gets busy.
