We have just come back from camping in the Highlands not having camped at all for several years. The site at Inverewe is a little gem which judging by the fact that there are no reviews on this site is perhaps undiscovered by campers. The site is small but is immaculately kept. We were most impressed by the cleanliness of everything. The toilets were gleaming and the showers exceptionally good for a camp site situation, plenty of hot water and as long as you wanted for free something you don't always get when camping. The staff were friendly and helpful and seemed to be constantly tending to something on site, i.e. when we were there they were cutting the grass and seemed to be always emptying the bins. There is a laundry which has everything you require, washing machine, drier and iron a great boon if you are away for more than a couple of days! It was slightly regimented in as much we were shown to the pitch which was designated for our tent and instructed exactly where to place it. We only have two small criticisms we would have is that there is not a shop on the site, there is one in the village, but if that is closed there is nowhere nearby to buy essentials, the nearest place being Gairloch which is six miles down the road. The other small criticism is that this was the most expensive site we stayed on but that is because we were not members of the Caravan Club so it cost us an extra ?5. Other than that we had a great time and if you want to eat out we would highly recommend the Poolewe Hotel. This is about ten minutes from the site and serves a really good menu at very reasonable prices in extremely pleasant surroundings. All in all one not to miss!
