We first visisted the site in August 2003 and have returned several times with our son, now 8. He still loves it! The site is always well maintained and despite what has been commented on in earlier reviews we have always found the staff friendly and courteous (not over the top or false). There is always a family friendly feel. It does get busier on the tenting field during the hieght of the season so there can be some mud in the toilets but the staff are in at least twice a day to keep them lovely and clean. If they did any building works it would take away from the beauty and tranquility of the site as the laundry/facilities are inkeeping with the natural surroundings. If you are looking for a picturesque, quiet, family site next to a beautiful bay, then I can't recommend it enough. One of it's sister sites nr Dalbeattie called Barlochan has a small outdoor pool which guests can use free of charge if you so wish.

Nice clean site.Staff very helpful.They are constantly on the go. Touring pitches well maintained and very close to toilet block etc. Beach also kept clean and is a good size. Only downside is that the water is very tidal and disappears for hours on end, but this gives way to fantastic walks along the sandflats. No pub on site but a short walk up hill and you can get a pint and a bite to eat. Would say site is more suited for couples that want a quiet week away. Small shop on site which supplies essentials but Dalbeatie is only ten miles away. Perfect for dogs, with plenty of trails for walking. Golf courses close by aswell. Would certainly go back

A very well maintained site, and very popular with families.So popular that its a bit noisy when the site is fully-booked, though its quiet later at night. Its a perfect site for children, with the beach literally a minute away. Be warned though, only part of the beach is sand, the rest are mud-flats. The showers, which are free, and toilet blocks were spotless when we arrived, but as the site gets busier there tends to be sand tracked in everywhere, but they are cleaned regularly; however two female and two male showers are simply not adequate when the site is fully booked. The staff were extremely helpful and polite, and hard-working, but it would be nice not to have the grass being mowed so early in the mornings...Just a small gripe. Altogether a lovely site, especially for families, and would be even better at a quieter time of year.
