There are now two official site on the Isle of Barra. We list both and you can access them via a search for Barra. You may wild camp with consent from the local crofter or the local responsible for the common grasing. Please see the weblink above and read the visitors reviews below which relate to camping near to the airport (now closed off due to erosion), on Vatersay and at Eoligarry. There is the Dunard Hostel with no camping in Castlebay for backpackers. The weblink above has more information on camping and the Island.

Visited in July 2004. There were several tent campers and camper vans on the Island. The most popular places were in the dunes of the west coast and the machair near to the airport. The airport has toilets and a cafe open during the day. We found that the
